Brief history of the start up of Hurco
In 1968 Gerald Roch, who was a salesman for Humston Machinery, asked Ed Humston (owner of Humston Machinery) if the two of them could start a manufacturing company to make some fabricating equipment. Gerald had a customer in Wabash, IN, who said their biggest problem area was in their press brake department. It took too long to bend parts that had several different sizes of bends in one part. Gerald Roch came up with the first programmable adjustable back gauge that would move automatically to a new dimension with each stroke of the press brake. This system was named "Autobend". Gerald Roch and Ed Humston then used the first two initials from HUMSTON and the first initial from ROCH, and the first two initials from Company to get the name HURCO! So HURCO stands for Humston and Roch Company!

Brief history of on start up of Hurco
HURCO built a few coil reels and coil air feeds to start but then they concentrated on the Hurco Autobend Gauging system that really got the company going. In 1974 Hurco introduced their first CNC Mill with the first ever CNC conversational control in the world. Humston Machinery sold the first Autobend and first Hurco CNC Mill.

For 50 years Humston Machinery has represented Hurco in the state of Indiana. Over these years we have built lasting relationships with many of our customers. Ranging from small job shops, machine shops and big manufacturing houses. They have come to rely on Humston and Hurco as their one source to help solve their manufacturing needs.
